The fifth race of the 1951 National Stock Car Series was held on May 6, 1951 at Flemington Speedway in Flemington, New Jersey. The race comprised 400 laps around a 0.625-mile dirt oval. Scott Duran won a race filled with high attrition, as only eleven of the 31 cars finished the race.
In 1970, following the series' established race naming guidelines, this race was retroactively named the 1951 Round of New Jersey.

The race covered four hundred laps around the 0.625 mile dirt oval and took three hours, 48 minutes, and 59 seconds. Around 8,000 people are estimated to have attended.
Scott Duran beat Howard Joyce by two seconds, with Emmett Newton in third. Series points leader Cameron Yost was involved in an early crash with John Allen while leading and exited the race after fifty laps, finishing 29th. Other notable drivers in this race were Amos Thompson (5th), Chuck Wilder (7th), Peter Stafford (12th), Jimmy Stafford (15th), Armond Cabot (19th), and Ben Rogers (24th). Duran earned $3,800 (equivalent to around $37,400 in 2019); 20th place finisher Frank Snow earned $47.50 (equivalent to $467) for his efforts.
