GAZ or Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (Russian: ГАЗ or Го́рьковский автомоби́льный заво́д, lit. 'Gorky Automobile Plant') is a Russian automotive manufacturer located in Nizhny Novgorod, formerly known as Gorky (Горький) (1932–1990). It is the core subsidiary of GAZ Group Holding.
WSCC[edit | edit source]
GAZ funded several drivers for entries the Donington Grand Prix and, later, European races as a whole; drivers from Eastern bloc nearly universally would enter races driving GAZ-24 models until 1992, when the 3105 became available for use. Despite the heavy funding provided by GAZ, increasingly few teams were willing to work with the slow, unreliable GAZ vehicles, and eventually the manufacturer withdrew support from stock car racing in 1995.
