This article is about the current American stock car racing championship series, which began racing in 1997. For the series that merged with the World Stock Car Championship in 1976, see American Stock Car Tour (1956 - 1976).
The North American Stock Car Tour is a second-tier stock car racing series based in North America and organized by the World Stock Car Association. The championship initially launched in 1997 as the American Stock Car Tour, a callback to the series of the same name that competed with the National Stock Car Series in from the 1960's into the 1970's. While initially branded as a competitor to the World Stock Car Championship, the ASCT struggled to gain much of a foothold during its formative years, and was purchased outright by the World Stock Car Championship in 2011. Following a small rebrand, the series became a part of the feeder system for the WSCC.
The NASCT is unique among the feeder series in that it has its own independent feeder system, due to its status as the premier stock car championship with a primarily U.S. oval racing schedule.
