This is a comprehensive list of all car numbers entered in World Stock Car Championship races.
To be included on this list, a car must be:
- A full-time entry
- A part-time entry (pre-1996)
- An Independent's Trophy entry (1997 - present)
- A one-off entry
- The recipient of a Promoter's option
Numbers by a driver's name indicate which race that driver entered.
Number Selection Criteria[edit | edit source]
The current criteria for number selection was established prior to the 1972 season. Prior to this, number selection was based solely on time of entry; as full-time teams typically submitted their entries first, they often had first choice of numbers. The main issues came when full-time teams wanted to switch numbers; if they proposed a switch to a number chosen by another team, a dispute would often occur. To resolve these issues, series officials established the number selection criteria as:
- The defending series champion's team will pick their numbers first; this team is the only team that may elect to use the number 1 (only for the driver that won the championship).
- Returning full-time teams who wish to use the same number
- Returning full-time teams wishing to change numbers; any number conflicts resolved based on their position in the previous season's final points standings.
- Part-time teams changing to full-time status
- New full-time teams
- Returning part-time teams
- New part-time teams
- One-off/field filler teams
Triple digit numbers were banned starting in 1972, but were brought back prior to the 2008 season for one-off entries. Entries using letters were banned starting in 1972, and that ban has not been rescinded.
