The Syracuse Mile was a 1-mile (1.6 km) dirt oval raceway located at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York. While the facility was originally built for harness racing in 1826, it became one of the first facilities to host auto racing when it held its first race in 1903. The track was closed after the 2015 racing season as part of a plan to modernize the New York State Fairgrounds.

Closure[edit | edit source]
In 2015, the New York State government announced a sweeping redesign of the state fairgrounds. This included removing the 16,000-seat grandstands and the dirt track to install an amphitheater and equestrian complex. The track held its final race weekend on Columbus Day in 2015.
