Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Kuznetsov is openly gay; she came out on October 11, 2010 (which has been celebrated as National Coming Out Day in the United States since 1988) via a post on Facebook. She stated that she had known since she was 14, and it was part of the reason she pursued education abroad rather than remain in Russia. Her brother, Sergey, then the defending-Formula A World Champion, was asked about it during a press conference for that year's Korean Grand Prix; he responded with enthusiastic support and indicated that he had known for some time.

Kuznetsov currently lives in Lisbon, Portugal with her wife, British writer Stephanie Granger, and their adopted twins Peter and Millie.

In 2022, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Kuznetsov applied to have her racing licensed changed to Portugal. Her request - alongside a similar one made by her brother - was granted on 1 March 2022.
