The Icebreaker, formally known as The Icebreaker Sweepstakes, is a WSCC race held every March at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, Connecticut. It is the oldest continually-held stock car race in the world, having been held every year since its inception in 1946. The 1950 race is notable as the first race in what is now the World Stock Car Championship. It is traditionally seen as the formal start of the professional stock car racing season.
