Benjamin Harrison Rogers was an American race car driver. He is best known as the winner of the 1950 Icebreaker Sweepstakes, the first race in what is now the World Stock Car Championship.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Racing Career[edit | edit source]

Death[edit | edit source]

Rogers was taking part in the qualifying session for the Round of Sag Harbor, which would have been his thirteenth race attempt that season. He went off the track entering the Colasante corner, impacting the wall at a high rate of speed. The frontal impact of the car into the wall caused the steering wheel to impact Rogers' chest, causing a ruptured aorta.

Rogers was rushed by ambulance to Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
