Grace Deja Wilson (born 7 January 1999) is an American racing driver currently competing in the Stock Car E-Series for BMW.
Prior to competing in the E-Series, Wilson ran in the SC-4 United States East Championship and NASCT Junior Series.
Racing Career[edit | edit source]
SC-4 Championship Series (2013 - 2016)[edit | edit source]
Wilson took part in the inaugural SC-4 United States East Championship in 2013, running for Deacon Anderson Motorsports part-time. Wilson ran the first four races of the season due to limited sponsorship. Despite the limited season, her strength in qualifying and improving racecraft convinced Deacon Anderson Motorsports to run her full-time in 2014.
In 2014, Wilson vastly improved, winning two races and managing an average finish of eighth place en route to a third place points finish behind teammate Piper Benjamin and Zoe Cochran.
In 2015, Wilson continued to be a championship threat, scoring three wins and battling Macie Riggs for second behind a third dominant season by Piper Benjamin.
In 2016, Wilson won a series-best five races (along with Riggs), and battled Leah Goodwin for the championship over the course of the season. Goodwin would narrowly edge Wilson for the title by four points. Wilson set career bests in every category.
NASCT Junior Series (2017 - 2020)[edit | edit source]
In the 2015-2016 offseason, Wilson signed a contract to drive in the NASCT Lites with Levitt Motorsports beginning in 2017. She was officially named the driver of the #8 UberEats Toyota late in 2016.
E-Series (2021 - present)[edit | edit source]
In 2020, Wilson was announced as the first driver for the new Stock Car E-Series, racing for Trudeau Racing and BMW.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Wilson was born on January 7, 1999 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother, Lisa Jones, owned a convenience store along side Wilson's grandmother. Her father, Michael Wilson Jr. is a tour guide for the Philadelphia historic society. Wilson's maternal grandfather, Prescott Jones, was a cousin of Roy Lewis; it was this family connection that drove Wilson's interest in stock car racing. She joined the Philadelphia Urban Racing School at 13, and was quickly scouted by Deacon Anderson Motorsports, who signed her to run for the team in 2014.
Wilson has three brothers and a half-sister through her father: Michael (born 1992), Derek (born 1994), Tyson (born 1996), and Tyra (born 2003).
Wilson has a close relationship with Piper Benjamin; the two have been roommates since 2018. Wilson has spoken often about her respect for Piper as a driver and a competitor, but says that she values her "far more as a friend and sister." She jokes that Benjamin is banned from playing almost every board game the two collectively own, citing the latter's competitive nature.
