The SC-4 German-Austrian Championship (German: SC-4 Deutsch-Österreichische Meisterschaft) is a stock car racing championship run under the guidance of the World Stock Car Association and its German affiliate, the German Stock Car Society (DSR).
History[edit | edit source]
In 2012, the World Stock Car Association unveiled the updated WSCC Global Pathway, intended to bridge the gap from junior series to international stock car racing; the first step was to create the developmental tier of stock car racing, which would be regionally focused to enable driver development.
The DSR announced in 2013 that Stock Car Deutsche, which had been run as an affiliated series since 2004, would cease operations after the 2015 season to allow a new series, the German Stock Car Masters, to form. All teams which formerly competed in Stock Car Deutsche would be allowed to transfer their entries to the new series.
The series officially announced Volkswagen as its official partner in early 2014, and announced the inaugural schedule in mid-2015.
The GSCM was renamed the SC-4 German-Austrian Championship in 2019, following a decision by the World Stock Car Association to follow a common naming format for each SC-4 series. Despite having an annual race in Hungary, the Hungarian racing promoters declined to officially partner with the World Stock Car Association, and was not included in the series naming scheme.

The championship features cars built to resemble the street version of the Volkswagen Golf. The bodies are primarily constructed from fiberglass and feature the Volkswagen 1.5L TSI engine.
The car is used in multiple other SC-4 championships and is approved for use across the SC-4 series of championships.
