The seventeenth race of the 1951 National Stock Car Series was held on September 16, 1951 at the Port Huron Fairgrounds in Port Huron, Michigan. The race comprised 200 laps around the 0.887-mile dirt track. Championship contenders Howard Joyce and Emmett Newton finished 1-2, giving Hudson the first manufacturer's 1-2 in series history. Cameron Yost was just behind Newton, who finished well back of the dominant Joyce, with Peter Stafford and James August rounding out the top five.
In 1970, following the series' established race naming guidelines, this race was retroactively named the 1951 Round of Michigan.

The race covered 200 laps around the 0.887-mile dirt oval. It took two hours, 49 minutes, and 12 seconds to complete. Around 6,500 people are estimated to have attended.
Howard Joyce beat Emmett Newton by 36 seconds, with Cameron Yost half a second behind Newton in third. Peter Stafford and James August completed the top five. Other notable drivers in this race included Armond Cabot (6th), Ben Rogers (8th), Jimmy Stafford (9th), Amos Thompson (10th), Earl Knight (11th), Donna Buckley (13th), and Chuck Wilder (22nd). Joyce earned $1,500 (equivalent to $14,931.44 in 2020 dollars).
