The 1952 National Stock Car season was the third season of professional stock car racing in the United States. The season comprised of 40 races, beginning with the 7th Icebreaker Sweepstakes at Thompson International Speedway and concluding with the 1952 Turkey Bowl at Riverside Park Speedway.

The 1952 season is the last of the three seasons which traditionally make up the formation era of professional stock car racing.

Schedule[edit | edit source]

The 1952 schedule had a number of firsts for the series:

  • The series would visit tracks multiple times in a season for the first time. Eight of the "original ten" tracks received a second date, with only Daytona and Rochester maintaining a single date.
  • The series added a second street course at Bass Lake in Indiana, marking the first time the schedule had multiple road races.
  • Five sanctioned events were held west of the Mississippi River, marking the first time the series held events farther west than Indiana.
  • The first split dates were held, coinciding with some dates on the West Coast; these would mark the first time in series history that drivers would be unable to compete in every race during the season.
  • Midweek dates first appeared on the schedule, as well as Saturday events.
